Sad Sad Story!

                      old

One third of all elderly people live on their own and severe loneliness, feelings of isolation and financial hardship are increasing, the Help the Aged study found.

They are being called the “Eleanor Rigby” generation after the Beatles song about an elderly woman who buried at a funeral to which no one came.

The research also discovered that half a million leave their house less than once a week.

Amy Swan, of Help the Aged, said: “It’s such a tragic state of affairs when older people tell us that the only person they see from week to week is the postman.”

Make someone’s day call in with an elderly friend to say hello or visit someone who you know is alone and frail.

5 minutes out of your life could change one elderly person’s day for the better.

Go on give it a try.
